UVI Holiday Recess Schedule
UVI offices will be closed for a holiday recess from Friday, Dec. 21, 2007, through Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008. Offices will re-open on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2008. In observance of the St. Croix Christmas Festival and Three Kings Day holidays, UVI offices will also be closed on Friday, Jan. 4, 2008, and Monday, Jan. 7, 2008, respectively.
New Student Registration Set Jan. 9; Late Registration Offered Jan. 10-11
Registration of new students is scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2008. Late registration – which requires a $50 fee – is scheduled for Jan. 10 and 11, 2008. The Spring Semester on the St. Thomas and St. Croix campuses begins on Monday, Jan. 14, 2008, and ends on Sunday, May 4, 2008. Spring Semester New Student Orientation Schedules Now Online
The student orientation schedules for UVI's 2008 Spring Semester are now available on the UVI web site – www.uvi.edu. The schedules can be accessed from the "Academics" page, the "Student Life Services" page links.
'05-'06 President's Report Now Available Online
The University of the Virgin Islands 2005-2006 President's Report is now available online from the "President's Report" link on the UVI home page – http://www.uvi.edu. The report recounts the University's accomplishments during the 2005-2006 academic year, including the establishment of the framework for VISION 2012, UVI's third strategic plan. Along with the University's financial report and lists of donors, the publication includes a feature story on Virgin Islands philanthropist Edith Rose Lewis Galiber, who has established the Edith and Andre Galiber Endowment at UVI.
CES 4-H Group to Participate in St. Croix Children's Parade
Approximately 15 members of the St. Thomas 4-H group sponsored by the Cooperative Extension Service, along with several participants from the 4-H Summer Camp and the CYFAR after school program will participate in the St. Croix Festival Children's Parade scheduled for 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 4. The group will also be represented by Nyere Francis Jr., who is the reigning St. Thomas Junior King of the Band winner, and Sundra Martinez, the current St. Thomas Junior Queen of the Band competition winner. Both will compete for the same titles on St. Croix.

UVI's Institutional Advancement Office has announced application deadlines for several scholarship opportunities, particularly for students in the sciences.

December Dateline: UVI Now Available Online
The December issue of the monthly newsletter Dateline: UVI is now available from the UVI web site. The newsletter features items on the recent reaffirmation of UVI's accreditation and a new book published by alumna Henrita Barber. Also featured are photos from the Virgin Islands Woodworkers Expo held on St. Croix. Hard copies of the newsletter are distributed to UVI offices. It can also be printed from the UVI web site – www.uvi.edu.
UVI Announces English Placement Exam Schedule for Spring Semester
The University of the Virgin Islands has announced the following schedule for the spring semester English Placement Examination:
St. Thomas Campus — CA 302
Jan. 7, 2008 (Monday-Three Kings Day Holiday)
Registration 8:30-9 a.m.
English 100 (essay) 9-10 a.m.
English 101 (reading) 10:30 – 11:30 a.m.
St. Croix Campus — Evans Center 300 level
Jan. 8, 2008 (Tuesday)
Registration 8:30-9:00 a.m.
English 100 (essay) 9-10 a.m.
English 101 (reading) 10:30 – 11:30 a.m.
UVI Schedules Math Placement Exam for Incoming Spring Semester Students
UVI's Division of Science and Mathematics has announced that new, incoming Spring Semester 2008 students, whose Math SAT scores are below 490, are required to take a Math Placement Examination. Students taking the exam are required to bring two No. 2 pencils, a graphing calculator and a picture ID. The testing schedule is as follows:
St. Thomas Campus:
Date: Monday, Jan. 7, 2008 (Three Kings Day)
Venue: CA Building Room 305
Time: 4:30-6:30 p.m.
St. Croix Campus:
Date: Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2008
Venue: Rooms Q-100 and R-100
