Brief: Governor Picks New Members of Economic Development Authority Board

May 14, 2007 — Gov. John P. deJongh Jr. nominated one person and named another as a cabinet-level appointee to the Economic Development Authority board of directors Monday.
The governor nominated John Lewis to join the EDA board and named Property and Procurement Commissioner Lynn A. Millin to serve on it, according to a Government House news release.
“Lewis is internationally educated, with achievements and proven expertise in varied financial, regulatory, managerial and infrastructural areas of the health care industry,” the news release said. Lewis also has certified compliance accreditations from two “renowned national healthcare entities.”
“Lewis’ business acumen as a small business owner and his knowledge of St. Croix in particular are benefits for the work of the EDA board,” deJongh said.
Lewis co-founded and is the Senior Partner of F.O.R.C.E. Healthcare, a national healthcare policy and financial-assessment firm. He is also the CEO of Lewis Consulting LLC, which offers a full range of services in the fields of health care, managed care, insurance and other related activities.
As the advisor of former Lt. Gov. Derek Hodge, Lewis worked on all health-related issues and their implications for the overall health of Virgin Islanders. Lewis was able to help the Office of the Lieutenant Governor more than triple the Medicare payments on Part A as well as establish their office as a successful health advocate for the Virgin Islands, the news release said.
Millin, recently sworn in as commissioner of Property and Procurement, was selected as a governor’s cabinet-level appointee to the EDA board. Millin’s term on the authority’s board is “coextensive with your service as Commissioner of Property and Procurement,” deJongh wrote in his appointment letter. Millin’s selection was based on her experience and education in the field of law.
Lewis’ nomination is subject to approval by the 27th Legislature.
