April 26, 2007 — St. John residents and visitors now have a new option for dining in the Coral Bay area. Café Concordia, located just before you reach Salt Pond Bay, is now open for breakfast and dinner daily.
According to a release issued Thursday, the café will hold its grand opening celebration on Sunday, May 13 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The café is the newest addition to Estate Concordia Preserve, sister eco-resort to Maho Bay Camps. According to the release, "owner Stanley Selengut established Concordia in 1990 to combine simplicity with the most up-to-date sustainable technologies."
The eco-resort, offering views of V.I. National Park and open ocean, includes 25 eco-tents and 9 studios. Located on the island's southeastern side, Concordia is just a five-minute drive for Ram Head hikers and snorkelers at Salt Pond Bay.
Maggie Day, vice president of Estate Concordia Preserve and Maho Bay Camps, said, After months of hard work, building the café and meeting pavilion, the staff is looking forward to welcoming the community to this unique site."
To find Café Concordia, drive southeast past Johnson Bay and Calabash Boom on Route 107 and climb the curves in the road until you see the Estate Concordia Preserve sign on your left. Take the cement drive until you can turn right on the dirt road, which will take you downhill slightly to the parking area.
The release says the café will be serving an array of seafood, chicken, beef and vegetarian entrees from its flaming grill. Café hours are 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. (breakfast) and 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m (dinner).
