April 14, 2007 — Laquina Hennis has died at the age of 12 in St. Thomas.
She was reported missing April 6 and her body was found Wednesday evening. Authorities say she was murdered.
Hennis is survived by her mother, Beatrice Hennis, also known as Anita; grandmother, Beryl Hendricks Smith; sister, La'Quanda Hennis; grandfather, Antonio Hennis Sr.; aunts, Brenda Springette, Denise Smith, Arlene, Alicia and Valencia Hennis; uncles, Ottley Smith, Jr., Allen Springette, Antonio Hennis Jr. and Maleki Hennis; godfather, Det. John Farrington; great aunts, Blanche Hendricks Roumou, Estella and Latlemay Hendricks, Paulette Rhymer, Rita Connor and Louise Dowling; great uncles, Ishmael, Allon, Amos and Hugo Hendricks; the Lockhart Elementary School Family; and many other friends and relatives too numerous to mention.
Visitation and tributes will take place from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday at Christchurch Methodist, Market Square, followed by the funeral at 10 a.m.
