Senate President Joins Forces With Congress of PTAs

Feb. 18, 2007 – Senate President Usie R. Richards announced that the 27th Legislature will be joining forces with the U.S. Virgin Islands Congress of Parents, Teachers and Students Association (USVIPTSA) Inc. as the association prepares to launch a grassroots advocacy initiative during the week of Feb. 19-23, which is recognized as PTA Advocacy Week nationally.
The Legislature will be holding a press conference at 9 a.m., on Tuesday, Feb. 20, in the Earle B. Ottley Legislative Hall on St. Thomas. It will bring together members of the USVIPTSA, the Legislature and other government officials with the goal of encouraging and including the voices of parents in the formulation of public policy as it impacts education.
"The Legislature will provide the forum to move the agenda of the USVIPTSA forward. The concerns and issues confronting our children and teachers requires a coming together for a common good, which is education and the general welfare of our children," said Sen. Richards.
