Alert: Police Searching for Prison Escapee

Feb. 12, 2007 — Police are searching for a 40-year-old man who escaped from Golden Grove Prison Monday.
Jason “Jamako” Stephens, who was serving a 15-year jail sentence for a first-degree assault conviction, became the subject of an all-island manhunt led by officers of the Corrections Bureau. Stephens was discovered missing from his prison cell around 8 a.m. Monday.
Acting Attorney General Vincent Frazer said late Monday afternoon that there "were several sightings of Stephens" all across the island, but the inmate eluded authorities.
Wanted posters were placed at the two territorial airports and at the seaplane terminals, which profiled the wanted convict, Frazer said.
Stephens is five feet six inches tall, 150 pounds and has black hair and brown eyes. He was convicted on Sept. 20, 2004.
Anyone with information on Stephens' whereabouts should call emergency 911.
