St. Croix Administrator Resigns, Expected to Run for Lieutenant Governor

May 23, 2006 – Gregory Francis, St. Croix administrator, has resigned his post effective immediately. Francis is expected to announce his candidacy for lieutenant governor on the John deJongh ticket.
In a press release, Gov. Charles W. Turnbull accepted acknowledged Francis's contributions to V.I. government: "Your willingness to serve the people of the Virgin Islands has been greatly appreciated. You have played a productive and supportive role in my administration. For this I am most grateful."
Speculation has run for weeks that Francis was deJongh's choice for running mate.
The official announcement will be made on St. Croix Wednesday evening.
