Transfer Day Ceremonies Slated for Friday at V.I. Legislature

March 28, 2006 — Commemoration of the 89th transfer of the Danish West Indies to the United States will be conducted on St. Thomas Friday in the Earle B. Ottley Hall of the V.I. Legislature. Activities will begin at 10 a.m. under the joint sponsorship of the Legislative and Executive branches of government.
The transfer will begin with a musical prelude by the Caribbean Chorale. The lowering of the Danish flag and the raising of the Stars and Stripes will be conducted by the Ivanna Eudora Kean High School JROTC.
Invited to deliver the keynote address is Ambassador Torben Getterman, Consul General of Denmark.
A reception will take place on the grounds of the Legislature immediately following the Transfer Day ceremony. The public is invited to attend.
