Historical Society Commemorates National Park
The St. John Historical Society will hold its February meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 14, at 7:30 p.m., at the Bellevue Community Center, on Gift Hill. Society Board member Bruce Schoonover will present "The Establishment of the Virgin Islands National Park – The Way It Was…" It is the 50th anniversary of the dedication of the park by Laurance S. Rockefeller. It was in a ceremony held at the bandstand in Cruz Bay that he formally turned over the deeds for over 5,000 acres of land to the Department of the Interior.
