Sept. 1, 2005 – Lieutenant Governor Vargrave Richards said he is angered by recent reports of a brutal sexual attack on a St. John woman, but urged the Virgin Islands community to remain calm.
"Crimes like these have no place in the Virgin Islands and I join the Governor in urging the Virgin Islands Police Department and other law enforcement agencies to work expeditiously on bringing the perpetrators to justice," Lieutenant Governor Richards said. "We will not condone this outrageous act."
The Lieutenant Governor also urged members of the community enraged by the incident to remain calm and allow law enforcement agencies to handle the matter.
