Maho Bay Clay Works Holds Art Classes

August and September will bring several different art classes to Maho Bay – all involving the use of clay. Here is a rundown of the opportunities.
Kid's and Family Potter's Wheel (ages 8 and up) Meets for 2 hours every Monday.
A fun, basic introduction. (four student minimum) Take it as many times as you want!
Instructor: Gail Van de Bogurt . All materials and firing included.
Mondays 2-4 pm $40.00 per class. Through September.
Kid's Handbuilding and Sculpture(ages 6 and up) Meets for 2 hours every Tuesday.
A fun, creative clay class. (four student minimum) Take it as many times as you want!
Instructor: Mandy Thody. All materials and firing included.
Tuesdays 3-5 pm $35.00 per class. Through September.
Watercolor Landscape Painting (ages 15 and up) $45.00 (min. of 3)
In this beautiful transparent medium you will try out tools and techniques: washes of color, wet into wet, glazing, color lifting as you see and interpret the landscape. Meet at dining pavilion.
Instructor: Gail Van de Bogurt or Catherine Perry. All materials included.
Tuesdays 9:30-12:30 $45.00 per class. Through September
Beginning Potter's Wheel (ages 15 and up)
We will guide you through all the basics. Learn to make bowls, mugs, vases in high fire stoneware. A great refresher course. Up to 25lbs. of clay, firing and open studios included.

August 3, 10, 17, and 24
4 Wednesdays 6:00-9:00 pm $140.00
Off the Wheel Handbuilding Workshop (ages 15 and up)
Get off that "gerbil wheel" and into some really far out forms using slab, coil pinch and extruding techniques. functional or not. All materials and firing and ³³3 open studios²² included.

August 5, 12 and 19:
4 Fridays 12:30-3:30 pm $105.00
Surface Decoration and Glazing for Stoneware
Bring another level of interest to your work with stains, slips, scraffito, over & underglazes.
Instructor: Gail Van de Bogurt. All materials and firing and open studios included.
August 11, 18 & 25: 3 Thursdays
12:30-3:30pm. $105.00
Continuing Potter's Wheel (ages 15 and up)
Build on your skills by learning to throw taller and thinner forms and working with lids, pouring vessels, knobs and handles. Up to 25lbs. of clay, firing and open studios ncluded.
September 7, 14, 21, and 28.
4 Wednesdays 6:00-9:00 pm $140.00
OPEN STUDIO 5 TIMES EVERY WEEK! (Drop in basis, no pre-registration)
