St. Croix to Celebrate Mango Melee and Tropical Fruit Festival

June 23, 2005 – It's that time of the year again. Mangoes and other tropical fruits are everywhere. So, if you like to eat, grow, or simply want to learn about mangoes and tropical fruits, you belong at St. Croix's annual Mango Melee and Tropical Fruit Festival.
The festival will be held from noon until 6:30 p.m. on Monday, July 4, 2005, at the St. George Village Botanical Garden on St. Croix. Admission is $5 for adults and $2 for children age 6 to 12. Children under six will be admitted free.
This is a day designed for the whole family with educational workshops, a mango eating contest, farmer and craft vendors, tasting of mango and tropical juices, a "mango-dis-mango-dat" food competition, nursery sales, garden tours and a silent auction of fruits. There will also be food and music, as well as games for the children.
The festival is sponsored by the St. George Village Botanical Garden, the V.I. Department of Tourism, UVI's Cooperative Extension Service, the V.I. Department of Agriculture, the UVI Agricultural Experiment Station, BioImpact Inc., HOVENSA, Plaza Extra and Cruzan Rum.
