Governor Departs Territory For Washington

June 14, 2005 – Gov. Charles W. Turnbull departed the territory Tuesday for Washington, D.C. to attend several meetings with members of Congress and members of the Bush Administration.
In accordance with the Revised Organic Act of 1954, as amended, Lt. Gov. Vargrave Richards assumed the duties as Acting Governor of the Virgin Islands.
Governor Turnbull is scheduled to return to the territory over the weekend.
