Apply Now for ISS Summer Enrichment Scholarships

March 11, 2005 – The Community Foundation of the Virgin Islands invites St. Thomas and St. John public and private high school students in the 10th and 11th grades to apply for the ISS 2005 Summer Enrichment Program Scholarship.
The ISS Fund at CFVI will award scholarships to students seeking to attend academically rigorous summer enrichment programs. Now in its third year, the program has provided almost $20,000 in funding to high school students in the U.S. Virgin Islands, a release said.
To qualify for an ISS Summer Enrichment Program Scholarship, a student must:
— Be a 10th or 11th grader in a public or private high school on St. Thomas or St. John.
— Be accepted in/or have applied to a summer enrichment program.
— Have an average cumulative GPA of at least 85.
— Demonstrate financial need.
Priority will be given to applicants who demonstrate extraordinary academic, as well as community service-oriented accomplishments. Quality of the enrichment program will also be an important consideration.
Applications are due at CFVI no later than April 15, but applicants are encouraged to submit their materials as soon as possible. Applications will be considered as they are received. Awards will be announced no later than May 2, 2005.

The Community Foundation of the Virgin Islands was established in 1990 to serve the children and families of the Virgin Islands. The Foundation has more than 70 funds created by individuals and businesses to support educational, environmental, social and cultural initiatives in the Virgin Islands. This particular scholarship is funded solely by Investment Security Services, LLLP, a financial services firm located in the Grand Hotel on St. Thomas.
