Agriculture Hosts Free Livestock Workshop

The V.I. Agriculture Department will host "Raising Kids, Calves and Lambs – The Future of Your Farm," at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 3, at the department's Dorothea station.The workshop will focus on how best to manage your young stock from pre-birth up to adulthood, including parasite control, nutrition, and housing and sanitation. Discussion will include how to care for orphans as well as how to avoid serious disease conditions effecting pregnant animals. Dr. John Mathews' video, "Kid Rearing," will be featured as well. The workshop is free and open to farmers and those interested in learning more. Additionally, free transportation will be provided from Red Hook for St. John livestock farmers.
