Hovensa To Conduct Blood Drive

Nov. 9, 2004 — The Medical Unit of Hovensa L.L.C. (Hovensa) will conduct a blood drive on Nov. 10 for its employees and employees of the contractors that provide services in the refinery.
The staff of the Hovensa Medical Unit will be assisted by staff from the St. Croix Community Blood Bank and the Governor Juan F. Luis Hospital, as well as volunteers, in collecting blood donations. In the last drive, 110 individuals volunteered to donate blood, resulting in the collection of 77 units of blood.
Hovensa Chief Medical Consultant Dr. Cora Christian said many workers at the refinery look forward to this semi-annual event to donate a unit of their blood to the St. Croix Community Blood Bank to fill the blood supply needs of the Governor Juan F. Luis Hospital during the upcoming holiday season. She said that the blood drives have become a commendable tradition of generosity by the men and women who work in the refinery and by their spouses.
