Red Cross HIV Poster Contest Underway

Nov. 8, 2004 — American Red Cross of the Virgin Islands is conducting a poster contest for junior and senior high school students to promote awareness of the growing rate of HIV among women and girls globally and in the territory in commemoration of World AIDS Day Dec.1. Posters must show one of the following ideas: the fact that women and girls are vulnerable because of high risk behavior of their sexual partners who use drugs and/or have multiple sex partners, or women and girls who lack knowledge about how you get HIV and AIDS, or women and girls who lack skill negotiating condom use with their sexual partners or women and girls who lack access to HIV prevention services and testing. Posters must be submitted to the Red Cross office at Nisky Center Suite 222, St. Thomas, VI 00802 by 4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov.17. For more information contact the HIV/AIDS Department at 774-0375.
