St. Thomas-St. John Public School Opening Schedule

Aug. 16, 2004 — St. Thomas-St. John Insular Superintendent, William I. Frett has released the 2004-2005 public school reporting schedule for the district' s elementary, junior and senior high school students which begins officially on Wednesday, Aug. 25. Frett said the schedule has been streamlined to maximize instruction time and create uniformity. He also said, parents are required to accompany their children to school on opening day. “The critical role of parents is being emphasized as they are required to accompany their children the very first day," he said. “Students and parents should be equally knowledgeable of policies, procedures and requirements, especially academic, disciplinary and dress code. Employers are encouraged to be supportive of parents as they increase their involvement in the education of their children, he said. "Parents are also reminded that they are entitled by law to two hours monthly to visit their children' s schools."
Students are asked to report by the following schedule:
All elementary schools
Wednesday, Aug. 25
All students in grades one through six will report for a full day of orientation and activities. Kindergarteners will not report.
Thursday, Aug. 26
All students in grades one through six will begin reporting regularly for instruction and activities. Kindergarteners with last names beginning with A – Lshould report from 8 to 10 a.m. only. Parents must accompany and remain with their children throughout the completion of the orientation. No classes will be held for Kindergarteners following orientation.
Friday, Aug. 27
Kindergarteners with last names beginning with M – Z should report from 8 to 10 a.m. only. Parents must accompany and remain with their children throughout the completion of the orientation. No classes will be held for Kindergarteners following orientation.
Monday, Aug. 30
All elementary students will begin reporting for a full day of instruction.

Orientation for students and parents
Requirements: Full school uniform with ID, a clear copy of current immunization record and $20 (new and returning students) to cover cost of ID, accident insurance and student fees.
All students are to be accompanied to the orientation by parents
Wednesday, Aug. 25 at 8 a.m. – all 12th-graders
Thursday, Aug. 26 at 8 a.m. – ninth-graders with last names beginning with A-L
Thursday, Aug. 26 at 12:30 p.m. – ninth-graders with last names beginning with M-Z
Friday, Aug. 27 at 8 a.m. – all 10th-graders
Monday, Aug. 30 at 8 a.m. – all 11th-graders
Tuesday, Aug. 31 – full day of classes for all students
NOTE: Students who miss orientation and do not receive class schedules will not be allowed to attend classes during the first week of school. Students who do not have updated immunization records or who have not met outstanding obligations will not receive schedules. Parents are advised that getting their children' s immunization records from the clinic, taking ID photos and fulfilling obligations at the school must be done prior to orientation day.
