Two Nominated for Council on the Arts Board

Aug. 6, 2004 – Gov. Charles W. Turnbull has submitted to the Legislature the nominations of Suzette Bough-James and Steven Deron Payne to serve on the V.I. Council on the Arts board.
Both nominations are for three-year terms and require Senate confirmation.
According to a Government House release, Bough-James teaches art at Ricardo Richards Elementary School and is a member of the Crucian Christmas Festival Committee, the V.I. Girl Scout Council and the V.I. Resource Center for the Disabled.
The release states that Payne is a Police Department school resource officer on St. John and a musician, and that his nomination is to succeed Denise George on the board. Payne implemented the Juvenile Delinquency Prevention Program. He formerly taught music at Addelita Cancryn Junior High School, where he started the first marching band, which had 150 students.
