Cyril James Benjamin, 83, Died in Maryland

Aug. 3, 2004 – Cyril James Benjamin of Contant died July 30 at the age of 83 in Maryland. Funeral arrangements are pending.
Cyril Benjamin, better known as "Shorty," was born in Sweats Village, Antigua, on June 14, 1921, to the late William and Ruby Benjamin. He pursued a printing career while he worked in the Star Printery in Antigua. He later migrated to St. Thomas and worked in construction as a foreman where he supervised and taught the trade to many. He had another love of "taxing" his locals. This gained him many friends. "Shorty" was known to all and was loved dearly by all.
He is survived by his daughter, Claudette Carr; sons, Alva and James Benjamin, sisters, Vic Labaux and Pamela Watt; six children, and many other relatives and friends.
Arrangements will be by Davis Funeral Home.
