Commission Looking at Methadone Treatment Here

July 19, 2004 – The methadone treatment program at the Charles Harwood Hospital is being re-evaluated this week. The program has been in existence for 20 years and serves residents of both the Christiansted and Frederiksted communities.
Darlene Carty, Department Of Health commissioner and Dr. Celia Victor, director of Mental Health, announced that the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organization would be visiting St. Croix on Monday, July 26, through July 28.
The visiting commission is the national organization for the accreditation of hospitals nationwide. The methadone treatment program assists men and women to detoxify from opiate and alcohol addictions.
Commissioner Carty and Dr. Victor said they are looking forward to the visit and are confident that the hospital will obtain this important and hard earned certification.
