April 23, 2004 – The Police and Health Department commissioners, senators and representatives of various civic, business and service groups are expected to take part in a Town Hall Forum on Sunday being hosted by the St. Patrick's Catholic School Alumni Association and its Law Enforcement Steering Committee.
Police Commissioner Elton Lewis is billed as the "guest speaker" for the forum, set for 1 p.m. in St. Gerard's Hall in Frederiksted.
Also expected to be on hand, according to a release, are Health Commissioner Darlene Carty, Dr. Olaf Hendricks, "all senators" and members of Our Town Frederiksted, the V.I. Coalition for Sustainable Economic Development, Rotary West, the St. Croix Chamber of Commerce and various churches.
The association additionally has invited other commissioners, the Health Department's Mental Health Division director, and representatives of the Frederiksted Economic Development Association and the St. Croix taxi industry to take part.
"We invite the entire community to join with us to address the diverse issues in our town Frederiksted," the release stated.
The Law Enforcement Steering Committee is chaired by Hortense Milligan-Rowe, who was a prime mover in the founding of the Coalition for Sustainable Economic Development. She was chief of staff to former Sen. Adelbert Bryan, whose proposal to create a Sustainable Economic Development Commission was rejected by the 24th Legislature in September 2001.
