SIBILLY 3RD GRADER WINS DISTRICT SPELLING BEE

April 6, 2004 – At the end of 29 rounds, the top six finishers in the St. Thomas-St. John district Primary Grades Spelling Bee, held on Friday, were:
1. Kishan Mootooveran, a Joseph Sibilly School third grader.
2. Shakim Cooper, a Lockhart School third grader.
3. Alphonso Neitle, a Joseph Gomez third grader.
4. Stephon Smith, a Seventh-day Adventist second grader.
5. Akela Brumant, a Wesleyan Academy third grader.
6. Nicolas Lopez, a Peace Corps third grader.
A total of 21 pupils from the second and third grades of the district's public and private schools took part in the bee, which was held in the Bertha C. Boschulte Middle School auditorium. April Phillips was the coordinator for the event.
