OF OVER-THE-TOP COAST GUARDS AND AGED BRITS

Dear Source,
The ridiculous thing about the Oceana fiasco, which did neither P & O nor St. Thomas and the U.S.A. any credit, was that it was a cruise ship full of later middle-age and elderly Brits — more a threat to themselves than to the might of the remaining superpower, paranoid to the extreme though it is.
I would just like to contradict your correspondent earlier in the week who said there was little anti-U.S. feeling on the boat. Rubbish! Even Gerard Kenny, our U.S. vocalist on board, seemed extremely upset and ashamed at the behaviour of your silly, over-the-top coast guards.
Escorted out with blue flashing lights on their boats — what idiots they looked. Perhaps we should turn a few planeloads of U.S. citizens back at London airport to get our own back.
I shouldn't think the fact that the Oceana has a restaurant staff made up mainly of people from India had anything to do with the decision to turn us back. You seem even more paranoid about them than you are about aged Brits!
