STATE OF THE TERRITORY SPEECH SET FOR JAN. 26

Jan. 8, 2004 – Government House announced on Thursday that Gov. Charles W. Turnbull plans to deliver his 2004 State of the Territory address on the evening of Jan. 26.
A release stated that the governor has advised Senate President David Jones that "he will appear before the 25th Legislature to deliver his sixth State of the Territory address" at 7 p.m. on that date, which is the fourth Monday of the month.
The governor's previous annual addresses have been delivered on the second Monday of January except in 2001, when he requested a rescheduling because of an off-island commitment.
His spokesman James O'Bryan Jr. had said on Wednesday that because of "bills coming from the Legislature which the governor must study," the date of this year's address would be determined "when he gets the bills out of the way." (See "No date set for State of the Territory speech".)
