Jan. 8, 2004 – Several sections of downtown Charlotte Amalie will be closed to vehicular traffic from Friday evening into Saturday for road patching and resurfacing, according to Public Works Department announcements.
Main Street will be closed to "Market Square road and the surrounding area" from 6 p.m. Friday until 4 p.m. Saturday, a Government House release issued Thursday afternoon stated.
General Gade will be closed from "75 Corner," the intersection with Main Street where the Finance Department offices are located, to the USO building on the waterfront, from 6 p.m. Friday until 4 a.m. Saturday while Better Roads crews are at work, another release stated.
The latter release also said that road work will take place on lower Main Street between the Finance Department offices and "Green Corner." Meantime, it noted, repairs are under way on "the road between the eastern side of Western Cemetery and the GERS Building to the old Island Block location."
