ST CROIX'S RENFRO BUYS ST. CROIX GUIDEBOOK & MAP

Dec. 26, 2003 – St. Croix businesswoman Julia Renfro has purchased the St. Croix Guidebook and Map from Great Dane Inc., owned by Arne and Barbara Jakobsen of St. John.
The Jakobsens started the map in 1988 and the guidebook in 1997.
According to Renfro, the style of the St. Croix Guidebook and Map will remain the same, with Linda Smith-Palmer continuing to provide the light-hearted drawings for which the publications are known. Arne Jakobsen, who will continue to do the layouts, said he is "very pleased to have Julia take over the ownership of the St. Croix Guidebook and Map. I feel it is important the Guidebook and Map not only stay in the hands of a Virgin Islander but belong to someone who lives on St. Croix."
Renfro has been sales manager for the publications for the last two years and is currently president of the Christiansted Restaurant and Retail Association. She also is a member of the St. Croix Chamber of Commerce board and of the St. Croix Hotel and Tourism Association's marketing committee.
"Telling people about all the wonderful things St. Croix has to offer is my passion," Renfro said. "This is such an exciting opportunity for me to have ownership of the St. Croix Guidebook and Map, which are instrumental in promoting St. Croix in the islands, the United States and Europe."
