SAYING NO TO A CFO

Dear Source,
I am in agreement with those who are against the delegate-proposed bill to create a chief financial officer for the Virgin Islands.
While it is admirable of the delegate to sort solutions to the growing financial problems of the Virgin Islands, the creation of the CFO position is indeed a step backwards toward colonialism. While many states and cities on the mainland are trying to limit the federal government involvement in local governmental affairs the delegate is trying to further involve the federal government in local Virgin Islands affairs. What the delegate is saying in an indirect way is that the local elected officials are incapable or not qualified to handle this type of problem.
The delegate must take look at the other states on the mainland which almost all of them are facing very difficult financial problems at this time but not one of their senators or congressmen are running to congress to create a CFO. What is this saying about the Virgin Islands? Think about it.
