Dec. 5, 2003 – The Motor Vehicle Bureau offices have been relocated to the Police Department's Patrick Sweeney Headquarters and are fully operational, police officials announced on Friday.
"All services are available" at the complex that previously had been provided out of trailers, a release stated.
The driver's license and certificate of title section is located on the second floor in the main building. Those wishing to do business in that section should use the front entrance to the complex and wait for personnel there to assist them, the release said.
Because of recent problems at the trailer site and the transition to the Sweeney headquarters, "there will not be any penalties associated with driver's licenses expiring in November," the release said.
On Nov. 20, because of a foul odor, authorities closed down the trailer where licensing and titles had been handled. They said it would remain closed until further notice.
Police Commissioner Elton Lewis and MVB director Lawrence Olive expressed thanks to the motoring public on Friday "for your patience during this particular time."
