HOVENSA BLOOD DRIVES NETS 160 PINTS

Nov. 24, 2003 — Hovensa oil refinery employees and their spouses donated a record 106 pints of blood during its semiannual drive Wednesday, Nov. 19.
The drive is carried out by the Medical Unit at Hovensa under the direction of Dr. Cora Christian.
"Dr. Christian said that this was one the best blood drives conducted by Hovensa," a statement issued by Hovensa Monday reported. The 160 pints is up from 90 pints given during the preceding drive.
Officials from the Gov. Juan Luis Hospital and Medical Center Blood Bank were happy to begin the upcoming holiday season with a "significant stock of blood" as a result of the generosity of the men and woman of Hovensa and its contractors, according to the statement.
