COSMIC NEWS: MOON OF PEARLS

April 15, 2003 – The FULL MOON on April 16 is in Libra-Aries, aligned with a prominent star and highlighting three dynamic planetary patterns.
The MOON shines close to the STAR SPICA, a bright blue-white star that marks the stalk of grain carried by the great goddess Virgo. It represents the seed and fruit of the natural cycle, and can bring out special gifts and talents, especially in the arts. This next couple of weeks favors significant new trends in the world of art and fashion. In Vedic astrology Spica is called the star of opportunity, imagined as a shining pearl. In Hindu myth, the Man in the Moon visits one of his 27 wives each night as he moves from mansion to mansion in the lunar cycle. These mansions of the Moon define 27 particular flavors of activity. Called Chitra, the mansion of this Full Moon is one of the most mystical, yet warns against the seduction of selfish illusions.
This Moon features high-charged planetary choreography, with 3 POTENT PATTERNS that call for action and manifestation. Things are happening. Each pattern is asking an important question, focusing on the personal in relation to the transpersonal. Let's listen. This is a testing time. Are you ready to graduate?
PATTERN 1: The Sun-Moon opposition squares MARS, the planet of action. This pattern is exact – the Sun, Moon and Mars in the 27th degree of Aries, Libra and Capricorn.
WHAT ARE YOU DOING AND WHO ARE YOU DOING IT WITH? WHAT IS GOING TO WORK IN THE LONG RUN?
This is a go-out-and-get-it pattern, representing the culmination of the New Moon on April Fool's Day two weeks ago. Things are happening. Mars is strong in Capricorn, aiming toward accomplishment. Challenged by the Sun and Moon, it can suggest headstrong actions, as in "I want it my way," leading to conflicts. Discussion and diplomacy are needed, yet impatience makes for short tempers. Take it moment by moment. A pearl of great price is at stake.
PATTERN 2: The ongoing Pluto/Saturn opposition squares VENUS, the planet of relationship and values. Saturn and Venus are exactly squared, making for a strong test.
WHAT IS THE RESPONSE OF A COMPASSIONATE HEART IN A WORLD OF CONFLICT, DEATH AND SUFFERING?
Tara, the goddess of compassion weeps. Her tears turn to pearls that bless the world.
Venus in Pisces longs for compassionate and unconditional love. Venus can feel heavy-hearted and disillusioned with Saturn and Pluto pressing in. Venus is the transformational agent, responsive and responsible in love and relationship. Many once-steady relationships are fragile and tearing at the seams. Disillusionment comes when we expect too much of other people; mere humans don't always live up to their highest selves. Yet how far backward can we bend? It doesn't work to sacrifice ourselves for others – that's an illusion of love. We are responsible for our own happiness. Hunt for the pearls. It might require some digging and weeding, but it is a soul-satisfying search. We don't need to sink into the dirt and confrontational dynamics of the dying structures. April showers bring May flowers – showers of Tara's pearls and blessings as well as rain.
PATTERN 3: Jupiter and Neptune continue to oppose each other and now square MERCURY, the planet of perception and communication.
WHAT SIGNAL ARE YOU TUNED INTO? WHAT MUSIC ARE YOU PLAYING?
Mercury is in Taurus, a slow-thinking and practical sign. It supports Mars in considering long-term results and what is worth doing. Mercury is going to take a while to think about it all, as it goes retrograde April 26-May 20 and doesn't leave Taurus until June 13. There is a lot to think through. Jupiter on one side is offering creative opportunities, but can get rather carried away with its own importance. Neptune, on the other hand, is making it rather confusing to think straight. What is practical, after all, when the energy is shifting so swiftly? Remember: don't get stuck in the mud. Stay tuned in to the blessings. This pattern becomes increasingly active on the next New Moon.
There is a very strong indication to try something, so we can get a sense of how it feels, how others are responding, what is working and what is not. It can be hard for Mercury in Taurus to change its mind, but since it is going retrograde, circumstances will require a new strategy.
Keep an eye out for the pearls. When we appreciate and enjoy the beauty of the moment, the glory of the universe is revealed to our inner as well as our outer eye.
