Feb. 19, 2002 – A lecture on the Baroque style of music by Dr. Lorna Young-Wright will be held in the Grand Hotel ballroom. It's a chance to learn more to enhance listening at the Sunday Baroque performance by the Polymnia choral group, while enjoying light hors d'oeuvres and cocktails.
The cost is $15.
Young-Wright, who also directs the Polymnia group, will speak on "Expressions of the Baroque Style Period Through Works of Handel and Bach: A Perspective."
She is an associate professor of music and chairwoman of the humanities division at the University of the Virgin Islands.
The choral group under her direction, the Puerto Rico Symphony Chamber Orchestra, and pianist Adele Allen from St. Croix will perform works by Bach and Handel at a Sunday evening concert.
