JUEL ANDERSON NAMED EDUCATION P.R. CHIEF

Aug. 8, 2001 – The public relations office of the Education Department has a new director, and the public relations office of the Tourism Department has a new vacancy.
Juel M. Anderson has made the move, assuming the Education position that has been vacant since February. She had been public relations manager for Tourism.
Anderson majored in journalism at Point Park College in Pittsburgh, Pa. Her experience includes work as a public information officer with the Office of the Governor during the Farrelly and Schneider administrations, as communications specialist with Tourism and as p.r. coordinator for deJongh Associates.
Education Commissioner Ruby Simmonds stated in a release that Anderson brings to her new position "a diverse background of public relations/customer service experience, in addition to her knowledge of governmental policies and procedures and familiarity with the media."
Janelle Gumbs has temporarily been assigned to the Tourism public relations office. She has been with the department for just over two years and just relocated back to St. Thomas from the Tourism office in Coral Gables, Fla.
