Aug. 3, 2001 – Joel "Joey" Benjamin has been charged with negligent homicide in the death of Ilma Dyer and Wilshana Stuart.
Benjamin, 33, of Anna's Retreat was the driver of the vehicle that struck and killed Dyer and Stuart on Wednesday, Aug. 1 in the vicinity of the Clinton E. Phipps Racetrack in the Bovoni/Nadir area.
Benjamin was advised of his rights Friday morning in Territorial Court and was placed on $50,000 bail, according to a release from the V.I. Police Department.
The release did not say if Benjamin had posted bail or give an arraignment date.
