AUTOPSY SET FOR BODY PULLED FROM HARBOR

June 4, 2001 – An autopsy was to be conducted Monday in an effort to determine whether foul play was a factor in the death of a middle-aged man police say may have committed suicide Friday.
The man, identified by police only as a Texas native, was reported to have jumped into Charlotte Amalie harbor after he had been seen pacing the waterfront apron around 11:30 a.m. Friday. Witnesses said the man ignored repeated calls to return to shore from individuals on the apron.
Officers later pulled the man's body from the harbor but efforts to resuscitate him failed. His identity was being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Police asked that anyone with information about the incident to call the Investigation Bureau at 774-2211 or the emergency number, 911.
