'V.I. MOST WANTED' TARGETS COLON

April 10, 2001 — Federal law enforcement agencies in the Virgin Islands are intensifying efforts to recapture a fugitive who has violated his pre-trial release.
Deputy U.S. Marshal Linda Valerino said Monday night on the "V.I. Most Wanted" television program that David William Colon, 29, was originally charged with illegal entry. Colon has had two other run-ins with the law. In 1999, the Immigration and Naturalization Service had deported him as an aggravated felon for a criminal information that charged him with weapons possession and drug distribution three years earlier.
Colon is also wanted on an outstanding warrant in Rhode Island, Valerino said.
Colon is described as a Hispanic male, 6 feet 5 inches tall, 175 pounds, black hair and brown eyes. He is a native of the Dominican Republic. Valerino said Colon was last known to be living in Lyttons Fancy on St. Thomas but he may have moved to New York.
Anyone with information should contact the U.S. Marshals Hotline at 773-5393. Up to $1,000 is being offered for information on Colon's whereabouts.
