Sen. Alicia "Chucky" Hansen is sponsoring a bill that would add a $3 tax onto every car rental contract, according to a brief statement from Hansen's office Thursday.
The statement said the $3 would be a special use tax that would go toward education, veterans affairs and the Union Arbitration Fund.
Hansen said there was nothing unusual about such a tax. According to the statement, the state of Florida tacks on an additional $2 on every car rental when the car is returned, with the funds going to education.
