ROTARY EAST HONORS 4 FOR JOB EXCELLENCE

More than 70 people gathered in the Ritz Carlton's grand ballroom Wednesday evening for Rotary East's annual Vocational Excellence Award dinner presentation.
Rotary East gives the Vocational Excellence Award to individuals within the community who have shown a high degree of interest, competence, dedication, effectiveness and enthusiasm in their various vocations. The purpose of the award is to publicly acknowledge the honoree's outstanding job performance and to publicize the concept of vocational excellence in the work place.
This year's recipients are Sally Smith, a noted local jazz musician; Hubert Brumant, Humane Society Shelter manager; Felipe Ayala, Director of Haagensen House and host of the television program "Inside," and Janet Gross, who works at Public Works Department as a complaint officer in the Management Information Office. They were honored for showing high ethical standards in their occupations and exemplifying Rotary's ideal of service above self.
Dr. Linda Creque was the guest speaker for the evening and stressed the importance of vocational excellence education in the schools and the importance of excellence in the work place.
