Too many times we hear negative comments about government employees. Too many times government employees are viewed as inferior workers. There are, however, many dedicated and hard-working government employees who do not get the recognition or praise due them.
As the owner of a small business, I went to the Office of Environmental Services, Department of Health, at the Knud Hansen Hospital complex to renew the company's health permits. What I observed were four employees working together as a team, respectful and focused on their monumental task of processing island-wide health permits.
Ms. Joseph was taking special care to ensure that all of the other employees involved (Mr. Richardson, Mr. George and Ms. Pennyfeather) handled the certificates carefully, keeping them clean and placing each one in a protective plastic cover.
My experience in that office was an excellent one. It continues to reinforce my faith that most government employees take their positions seriously and want to do a good job.
