EDC OPEN HOUSES ON MARCH 15 & 20

The Economic Development Commission (formerly Industrial Development Commission) is holding open houses designed to "continue the dialog between the staff of the EDC and the people of the Virgin Islands." The meetings will begin promptly at 5:30 p.m., with the first one Thursday at Gertrude's in St. Croix, followed by another on March 20 at Palms Court Harborview Hotel on St. Thomas.
The EDC staff, including Nadine Marchena, newly appointed assistant chief executive officer of the renamed agency, will answer questions from the public such as: Why does the EDC exist? How will the changes in the law affect business in the V.I?
In a statement from the EDC, Marchena said, "We are looking forward to holding these open houses aimed a answering questions regarding the agency, its purpose and initiatives."
The first of the open houses were held in November. However, since the first meetings the governor has signed into law a bill merging the Industrial Development Commission, the Government Development Bank, the Industrial Park Development Corp. and the Small Business Development Agency into the new Economic Development Commission.
For questions regarding the open houses, call Marchena at 774-8104.
