WICO APPLIES FOR CZM PERMIT FOR OFFICES

The West Indian Company Ltd. has applied for a Coastal Zone Management permit to construct a two-story office building on its property at Havensight.
The building would be in the area between the shopping center and the dock, on a 2.8 acre lot, adjacent to warehouses. The area is zoned W-2, or Waterfront. The offices will be for the exclusive use of WICO personnel.
According to WICO's permit application, the site is already clear of vegetation and is paved with asphalt. It is underlain by artificial fills of sand, corals and boulders that were previously removed from the bay by hydraulic or mechanical dredging. There is "no historical significance" to the area, the application said.
Stacy Bourne of Innovation by Design is listed as the project designer. Work is proposed to start June 4, 2001, and to be completed by July 15, 2001.
