BODY OF ELDERLY MAN FOUND

The body of an unidentified 70-year-old man was found Wednesday in the Yellow Cedar area.
Police investigators responded to a citizen’s discovery of a partially decomposed body in the Yellow Cedar-Paradise area off the Melvin Evans Highway, according to St. Croix Police Chief Novelle Francis. The body was found after the citizen investigated the source of a foul odor.
The man, who was found in an abandoned building near an inoperable Chevrolet automobile, had been dead for two to three weeks, Francis said. He said police will release the name of the individual once his relatives have been notified.
An autopsy will be conducted within the week to determine a cause of death, Francis said.
