ST. THOMAS-ST. JOHN AFT TO MEET WEDNESDAY

A general membership meeting of the St. Thomas-St. John Federation of Teachers is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, but union officials have said it has no bearing on when the union will strike.
No new developments have been reported in the standoff with the government, since teachers' representatives and government negotiators met Friday. While the membership meeting to be held Wednesday afternoon is being billed as "a very important informational meeting," a union official said Tuesday that such meetings are held if a job action is planned or under way.
Members of the American Federation of Teachers Local 1825 will gather at the Palms Court Harborview Hotel for the meeting.
