TACO BELL SHELLS COMING OFF V.I. SHELVES

The Department of Licensing and Consumer Affairs has required all retail grocery stores in the territory to discontinue selling Taco Bell Shells, in response to Kraft Foods' recall of the products.
Kraft recalled the taco shells after tests confirmed they were made with genetically engineered corn not approved for human consumption.
The following products have been recalled:
– Taco Bell Home Originals 12" Taco Shells
– Taco Bell Home Originals 18" Taco Shells
– Taco Bell Home Originals Taco Dinner (12 shells, sauce and seasoning)
A release from DLCA warned consumers who have purchased any of these products not to eat them. The shells can be returned to the stores where they were purchased for a full refund, the release said.
The corn used in the products is known as "Starlink." It has not been approved for use in food, but, according to DLCA, there is no evidence of adverse health effects after consumption.
Compliance officers from DLCA have found the products in local stores and is encouraging the retailers to remove them from the shelves.
