Carnival Valor is the name Carnival Cruise Lines has selected for its new 110,000-ton cruise ship slated to debut in the fall of 2004.
The 2,974-passenger vessel, the sixth in the line's "Destiny-class," will be constructed at a cost of approximately $500 million at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy.
Carnival also has two other 2,974-passenger vessels under contract with Fincantieri — the Carnival Conquest, scheduled to enter service in fall 2002, and the Carnival Glory set to debut in summer 2003. At 110,000 gross registered tons, these three vessels represent a larger version of the line's Destiny-class, launched with the Carnival Destiny in November 1996.
Carnival's third Destiny-class ship, the new 102,000-ton Carnival Victory, embarked on its inaugural voyage from New York last week.
The 952-foot-long Carnival Valor will feature 13 passenger decks
with a variety of attractions. The ship will also include 1,487 staterooms, a large percentage of which will include private balconies.
In addition to three 110,000-ton Destiny-class vessels, Carnival
has three 86,000-ton "Spirit-class" ships on order – the Carnival Spirit, slated to enter service April 29, 2001, the Carnival Pride, set to debut in late 2001, and the Carnival Legend, scheduled for delivery in summer 2002.
All told, Carnival has six new "Fun Ships" with an estimated value of $2.6 billion scheduled for delivery over the next four years, which would bring the total number of vessels in the line's fleet to 21.
