HERE'S WHAT'S HAPPENING FOR V.I. CARNIVAL 2000

Here's the schedule of official events for V.I. Carnival 2000 — also known as "Jump Up and Sway, It's Carnival Y2K!" Events are free unless otherwise indicated.
Saturday, April 8 — "Caribbean Music Night," 8 p.m., Lionel Roberts Stadium; $20 in advance, $25 at the gate.
Sunday, April 16 — Prince and Princess Talent and Selection Show, 5 p.m., Lionel Roberts Stadium; adults $10 in advance, $12 at the gate; children (under 12) $5 in advance, $7 at the gate.
Saturday, April 22 — Queen Talent and Selection Show, 8 p.m., Lionel Roberts Stadium; $15 in advance, $20 at the gate.
Sunday, April 23 — Traditional games (greased pig contest, etc.), 1 p.m., Lionel Roberts Stadium; Toddlers Derby, 5 p.m., Lionel Roberts Stadium. (This being Easter Sunday, don't be surprised to find an egg hunt among the games and bonnets on the babes.)
Monday, April 24 — Carnival show at Roy L. Schneider Hospital, 6 p.m., hospital lobby.
Tuesday, April 25 — Junior Calypso Competition, 8 p.m., Lionel Roberts Stadium.
Wednesday, April 26 — "Cultural Night / King and Queen of the Bands," 8 p.m., Lionel Roberts Stadium.
Thursday, April 27 — Brass-O-Rama, 8 p.m., Lionel Roberts Stadium; $10 in advance, $15 at the gate.
Friday, April 28 — Calypso Revue I, 8 p.m., Lionel Roberts Stadium; $12 in advance, $15 at the gate.
Saturday, April 29 — Calypso Revue II, 8 p.m., Lionel Roberts Stadium; $15 in advance, $20 at the gate.
Sunday, April 30 — Watersports activities (power boat racing, etc.), 10 a.m., Charlotte Amalie harbor; coronation of queen, prince and princess, 4 p.m., Emancipation Garden; Pan-O- Rama, 7 p.m. Lionel Roberts Stadium. For Pan-O-Rama only, admission is adults $10, children (under 12) $5.
Monday, May 1 — Opening of Carnival Village, "Brownie's Ville," honoring Irvin "Brownie" Brown, 6 p.m., Fort Christian parking lot.
Tuesday, May 2 — Pre-teen carnival tramp, 6 p.m., from Rothschild Francis "Market" Square to the village; senior citizens quelbe tramp (acoustic music), 8 p.m., from Market Square to the village.
Wednesday, May 3 — Carnival Food Fair, honoring Eda Rojas, all day from 8 a.m., Market Square.
Thursday, May 4 — J'Ouvert warm-up, 12:30 to 4 a.m.; J'Ouvert 4, a.m., Veterans Drive; arts and crafts fair, honoring Justin Todman, 10 a.m., Emancipation Garden; V.I. Calypso Competition, 8 p.m., Lionel Roberts Stadium. For the calypso show only, admission is $12 in advance, $15 at the gate.
Friday, May 5 — Children's Parade, 10 a.m. to early afternoon, Western Cemetery to Lionel Roberts Stadium.
Saturday, May 6 — Adults Parade, 10 a.m. to late afternoon, Western Cemetery to Lionel Roberts Stadium; fireworks, 9 p.m., Charlotte Amalie harbor.
For those who want to take in everything, a Carnival "season pass" is available for $90 that will save you $14 on the adult advance price of all paid-admission events. Passes may be purchased only at the V.I. Carnival office, located at 11A&B Kronprindsens Gade, 2nd floor (across from the Finance Department offices at 75 Corner).
Tickets to individual events are being sold at Nisky Pharmacy (Nisky Center), International Records and Tapes (Back Street), Parrot Fish Music (Back Street), T&P Cash and Carry (Bern Ice Alley), Family Health Center (Barbel Plaza), Modern Music/Havensight, and Krystal & Gifts Galore (Tutu Park Mall) on St. Thomas; and at the St. John Drug Center on St. John.
