ONE STUDENT HOSPITALIZED IN SCHOOL BRAWL

A Charlotte Amalie High School student was stabbed Thursday morning in the latest disturbance to rock the CAHS campus. Police units converged on the school after an assistant principal reported a fight in progress shortly before 8:30 a.m.
When the fighting parties were subdued, police learned that one person had been stabbed and in the climax of the fight a gun was reportedly brandished.
The injured student was taken to the Roy L. Schneider Hospital for treatment. His condition was not known though it was widely speculated that his injuries were not life-threatening.
It was reported that the stabbing victim was not cooperating with police officers.
There are unconfirmed reports that three persons were taken into custody in connection with the fight. Two persons in CAHS uniforms were seen being escorted to the Richard Callwood "Zone A" command in handcuffs. Another detainee was in plain clothes, the eyewitness said.
Shortly after the fight was stopped, someone from the high school called police that another fight had broken out near the computer lab; that call turned out to be a hoax.
St. Thomas Source has learned that the fight was the result of a turf war between student groups from the Oswald Harris Court area and those from the Savan neighborhood.
Anyone with further information on the incident should contact police at 774-4050 or 911.
