APPARENT 'GRUDGE' SHOOTINGS CONTINUE

A 25-year-old Donoe Housing Community resident has become St. Thomas’ latest shooting victim.
Jose Pinto of the public housing community was struck with gunfire four or five times outside building 85 by unknown suspects at around 11 p.m. Thursday.
Police were called to the entrance of the Donoe project by reports from citizens of gunshots in the area.
Upon arrival officers found Pinto, who could only tell investigators that the suspects were wearing black shirts and black pants.
Pinto was taken to the Roy L. Schneider Hospital for treatment of gunshot wounds to the shoulders and legs. His condition is listed as stable.
Police sources said Friday that the shooting is likely a retaliation for a New Year’s Day shooting in the Michael J. Kirwan Terrace housing community that left three persons injured, including the son of a retired police corporal.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 774-4050 or emergency 911.
