St. Thomas police Monday afternoon were pursuing three suspects who staged the latest armed robbery to rock Charlotte Amalie.
Three black males stormed the Snap Shop on Norre Gade, east of the Grand Hotel, around 2:45 p.m. and robbed the establishment of an undetermined amount of cash. The Snap Shop is a photo studio owned by popular local photographer Betsy Barretta.
No one was injured and no shots were fired though the three robbers were reportedly toting handguns.
The suspects were described as wearing white T-shirts and dark-colored pants. One had his hair in long braids, the other two had short hair.
One of the three suspects had a cast on his arm. The three are reported to have fled towards the Fort Christian Parking Lot.
Police surrounded the Norre Gade-Veterans Drive area in an attempt to intercept the three robbers.
Other police units were diverted to the outer perimeter of the robbery scene, near Barbel Plaza and Main Street.
There were unconfirmed reports that the three suspects may have caught a ride on a "dollar ride" cab near the eastern entrance of the parking lot.
Anyone with information should contact police at 774-4050 or emergency 911.
