V.I. Port Authority spokeswoman Shirley L. Smith has reported the Cyril E. King and Henry E. Rohlsen Airports will close at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
The territory's two airports will remain closed until further notice, Smith said.
Cape Air, American Airlines and Delta Airlines had suspended service as of early Wednesday. All other carriers were expected to shut down by 2 p.m.
Smith asked the public to keep abreast of the situation by listening to their radios.
Travelers holding reservations on Delta for Thursday morning were told Delta would not be flying since they would be unable to get equipment into the territory on Wednesday night.
